The Silence and The Bones
: A wave of radiation comes from the center of the galaxy killing all animal, insect, and sea life, leaving a tiny handful of survivors who must live with the empty world, filled only with skeletons, vast wealth, such dangers as uncontrolled nuclear power plants, a ravaged ecology, and the vast Silence.

This is the story of finding each other and living together in Flagstaff, Arizona, the changes they make in their culture caused by the incredible Silence of the world, and a greater danger of ever increasing radiation released from melted down Nuclear Plants and pools filled with spent fuel rods worldwide.

Since sex is an important part of the small culture the survivors evolve, necessary for both sanity and survival, this story has that factor within it, although not explict nor graphic, but certainly very wild and unconventional, written frankly. It describes Polyamorous relationships, that is, love and sex among many people at once.

The narrative is written in first person, as in a journal, organized by daily, weekly, or monthly entries in a computer diary.

The Five Facets of the Sun

Humanity exists only on one planet in the entire Universe, an alien planet orbiting a giant ringed sun. Living in the oceans of that planet, Humans breathe water, kept alive by the Oxygen Microbe, which dies in their lungs and releases a tiny bit of pure oxygen. The Human species fights for survival against the alien species of the oceans and waves of radiation that almost sterilizes most of the population. They cling to survival tenaciously, thanks to the technology brought from long dead Earth, but their survival is not assured.

The Shin also exist on this alien planet, not natural to it either. They live in cliffs on the Great Continent, swinging from ledge to ledge, aided by their incredible robots and high technology, much of it originating with the Taa, an insect hive species living with them, strangers also to this world, the two species surviving only with each other's help.

Also in the ocean, a tiny species, microscopic, called Mockers also live, existing in the bodies of the fish and other creatures which they not only control, but amplify. Not native to the world either, they too have their own technologies, and they avoid the Humans and the Shin/Taa, for both can kill them. This is the story of these four species as they discover each other and make First Contact.

Jacob Hanes is the Mayor of a small Utah town named Youngstown. He was appointed by the Town's City Council, as a temporary replacement for several years until the next election. He was still Fire Chief, one of the youngest in America, a man who loved fighting fires and was content to be a simple fire fighter, thrust into what was supposed to be a simple temporary stand-in replacement as Mayor.

Then, an alien species arrives in orbit in 12 huge white spheres and communicates to everyone on the planet. The governments of the world go nuts, and try to destroy them, and they simply leave. But before they go, they take the town of Youngstown and slow time down in it so in 15 wild minutes, 50,000 years pass on the planet Earth. To the rest of the Earth, the town of Youngstown seems frozen in time.

A few decades after the town is frozen in time, the accidental release of weapon nanotechnology kills off every bit of life on the entire planet. All life but Youngstown, locked in it's immensely slow time, isolated from everything else on the planet.

When the town comes back into normal time, Jacob Hanes is suddenly the Mayor of the only town left on the Planet Earth. The towns people face an entirely new ecology, new conditions, new politics, rebellion, and great love.

This is their story.
